It looks like Jonathan Dunham is the FAN club member of the decade! The path of William and Sarah is scarce as you go back in time. We know that through Y-DNA Joseph and John were sons of either Reuben or William. Other ancestry DNA results seem to indicate that William Carrol Phillips is related, and he would be in William’s household in 1850.
Using Ancestry, we can follow William to St Clair County, Alabama all the way back to 1830. In 1820, the Alabama State census is an option but it doesn’t cover the whole state. Fortunately, it does cover St. Clair county and Shelby county. There is a William Phillips in 1820, but the earliest
